Total curfew is banned in Makkah and Madinah due to Corona




The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that an official source in the Saudi Ministry of Interior said that it is prohibited to stop moving around the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah all of them (24) hours a day from today until further notice.




The source said, according to the agency, that in the framework of the Kingdom’s efforts to confront the Corona virus pandemic, and in implementation of the recommendations of the competent health authorities to raise the degree of precautionary measures and preventive measures in the cities of Makkah and Madinah, to preserve the health and safety of citizens and residents, Follows:

First: The curfew will be in all parts of the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah for a period of (24) hours per day, with continued entry to or exit from it, as of its date and until further notice. The prevention of entry and exit does not include groups excluded from employees of the vital sectors in the public and private sectors, whose actions require continued performance during the prohibition period, according to what was stated in the Royal Decree No. 45942 dated 8/8/1441 AH.

Second: It is allowed - in the narrowest range - for residents of the neighborhoods of the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah to leave their homes to spend only the necessary needs such as health care and catering, within the scope of the residential neighborhood in which they reside, during the period from six in the morning until three in the afternoon every day.

Also, those wishing to use banking services and ATMs are allowed according to a mechanism set by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and Health.

The Ministry of the Interior called upon everyone to go out to adults and in only necessary cases, to ensure that children are not exposed to the causes of transmission.

Third: Prohibiting the practice of any commercial activities inside the residential neighborhoods of the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, with the exception of the work of pharmacies, foodstuff stores, gas stations and banking services.

Fourth: Restricting motor vehicles within the residential neighborhoods of the cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah referred to in item “Second” to only one person, in addition to the driver of the vehicle, to reduce contact with the minimum.

The Ministry of Interior called on all citizens and residents to use express delivery services through smart device applications, to request food and drug needs and other excluded goods and services and deliver them to homes.

The Ministry assured the public that these measures have been taken within the framework of the Kingdom's efforts to preserve public health and prevent the spread of the Corona virus, and that it is subject to continuous evaluation with the relevant health authorities.

It also called on everyone to feel their individual responsibilities and to follow the directions, and to adhere to the isolation measures in the public interest.
